Senior Android and iOS Developer

Summary

We require a competent Android & iOS developer to join our energetic and dynamic team in a full-time position. This position is available immediately and requires working hour coverage to a majority of daytime business hours across Australian time zones and some early am coverage to EU/UK.

The Role: Our projects require a detailed working knowledge of and experience with on-device network/internet (transparent proxy/VPN) filtering and enterprise device policy applications on Android and iOS devices.

The products include a well-established parental-style internet filter and business-style device policy manager application, currently for Android devices (using Android Enterprise) and soon to be for iOS as an Apple MDM (Apple Business Manager) solution.

The products are installed on the devices as device owners (mobiles) and cannot be removed in the normal method as apps can. MDM is a mobile device manager to manage policies on the devices, which can then be controlled by admin users on the web console. Included in the product is transparent proxy filter that sends all internet traffic, from all apps (not just browsers) through the on-device filter. An understanding of low-level network filtering and the use of proxies and VPNs when handling internet traffic is key to this role.

The projects primarily consist of Kotlin/Java/Swift code representing the core business logic for filtering functions based on server-side configuration rules managed in a web-based console. The rules are delivered to target devices using RESTful API services triggered by push notifications. Low level network UDP/TCP/SSL logic is written in C++.

Your task will be to actively develop and maintain these projects, working with other developers and support teams to resolve customer facing issues and the implementation of new features with fast turnaround to deployment. Your code must be structured and documented to assist other team members working on the project.

The successful coder will work as part of a team, collaborate with the product owner, business analysts, project managers, other senior developers, QA’s, designers, and the support managers daily through face to face, on Slack, and video conference meetings. In addition, you must be able to work Agile Scrum with regular deliveries of potentially releasable products. We embrace Agile software development methodologies and use toolsets that synchronize throughout the department from product ideation through design and development to product delivery and lifecycle management.
